Social & Sporting Hub

The New Futures Centre in Banbury reflects the need for co-located facilities for young people and their local community. The building sits on the site of the previous youthcentre and is adjacent to a leisure centre, library and outdoor swimming pool. It provides accommodation for various activities such as music, performance, art and sports as well as individual meeting/counselling rooms and office space for the centre’s staff.

The bold coloured external render finishes aim to create an iconic focal point in the existing community whilst the curved roof, sited over the main social and hall spaces, not only makes an impact externally but also forms exciting internal spaces. Internally, the finishes are robust but welcoming, with a homely feel.

PV panels are not the only high tech element of the building – the social area is complete with sound system and a wireless internet connection whilst the recording and performance rooms are equipped with the latest state of the art audio-visual equipment. Underfloor heating and passive ventilation are also features of the new build.
