Sympathetic Approach to Listed Home

Major repair, refurbishments and extension of a grade II listed house set in a Registered Historic Park and Garden townscape.

The house had become dilapidated after years of use as multi-occupancy student accommodation. Our proposals remove unsympathetic alterations and re-instate original architectural details that had become lost during the period of institutional use.

The internal layout is modified to respond to modern aspirations for more open plan living and provision of additional bathrooms and a larger kitchen. The house is also extended to provide additional living accommodation and a garage.

All the alterations including a large basement excavation were developed through detailed discussion with the local authority conservation officer, English Heritage and neighbours.
