Phoenix from the Ashes

33 Colston Street is a six storey building in the centre of Bristol which suffered from a severe fire in October 2015. The initial phase made the building watertight with a demolition phase removing all internal partitions and services that had been affected by subsequent water damage.

Oxford Architects were asked by the University to rebuild the accommodation and where possible improve the student facing facilities. This included providing en-suite bathrooms throughout with a separate senior resident’s flat. Working with the end-users and student representatives we have enhanced the shared social and study spaces on the ground floor.

The building officially reopened in October 2017.
