New Community Asset in Planning

We have submitted a planning application for Stoke Gifford Community Centre to increase its existing footprint by 148% and provide:

• improved football changing facilities, a plant room and associated infrastructure

• a new office and meeting room

• a Café and bar/kitchen

In addition to the proposed new build element, the retained areas will be refurbished to provide a new lease of life for the well-used community asset.

The scheme is centred around two primary aims:

1. Greater connection to their surroundings

2. Greater building legibility and transparency

The proposed works will follow the heights of the existing building with the ridgeline being carried through to the new roofs. This will ensure that the building’s presence is kept secondary to the surrounding park and that the new building does not compromise the existing one.

The resulting building will support the parish’s ambition and aspiration to engender community spirit, activities and cohesion by providing new and improved facilities that can be used for and by the public.
