Housing Festival Competition

Oxford Architects took part in a competition run by the Bristol Housing Festival for a new Student Village at Trinity College, Stoke Bishop, Bristol. Our submission focused on providing accommodation for 30 students along with communal areas which had the ability to be joined together to create larger multi-group communal spaces.

We proposed an internal courtyard approach within which all the key spaces would look. The existing ground levels resulted in the building heights being staggered across the site which helped reduce the massing. The integration of the existing established trees and soft landscaping was a key design driver and helped position the accommodation across the site. Dark stained timber cladding with natural timber accents offered both integration and contrast when viewed against the existing tree canopy.
