60's Gem Revitalised

The refurbishment and extension of Grade II listed Parkham Wood House, in Brixham Devon, completed in January 2022. Designed by the innovative, Devon-based architect, Mervyn Seal in 1960, this three-bedroom house, built high across a cliff face, with extensive glazing and distinctive butterfly roofs, is one of a small collection of similar houses designed by Seal in the Torbay area.

The house was listed as Grade II in 2009 in recognition of its outstanding exterior form and original interiors such as timber-clad ceilings, bespoke shelving and open-tread staircases. The façade has been restored and the Crittall windows were repaired. The interior was fully refurbished and a new kitchen and bathroom installed.
