Sensitive Addition to Historic Setting
The new Garden Building for Mansfield College is a sensitive insertion to an historic listed Oxford quadrangle and provides a mixture of ensuite student study bedrooms and conference/teaching facilities within the landscaped grounds.
The main façade to the 4 storey building is set back from the existing college buildings and detailed in bath stone for continuity, with feature windows framing views across the site. A mixture of stone banding, render and western red cedar boarding complement the main façade stonework to gently ease the building into its tranquil setting and provide a relaxed environment for the college’s students.
- 24 ensuite student rooms
- 2 conference room facilities
- Continuous barrel vaulted rooflight to third floor
- Designed for extension in the future
