New Cardiff Stations Open for Rugby World Cup

Cardiff Queen Street & Cardiff Central Stations were fully opened to the public in time for the start of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The two town centre stations were completely replaced along with track re-alignment and consequential alterations to platforms.
Oxford Architects were engaged by the design and build contractor BAM Construction Ltd to provide construction details, co-ordination and assistance during the building programme. Oxford Architects also played an important role in the Network Rail consents process.
The stations remained in use during construction necessitating complex phasing of the works including a concrete pour on Christmas day.
